Green Arrow can hardly catch his breath as he returns to Seattle to find new allies and a new mission. Some things never change, though, as Ollie is making new people want to kill him!

We've got a lot going on in this new direction for Green Arrow.  We've got Merlyn searching for Mia Dearden, who you all might remember as Speedy after Green Arrow's resurrection in the early 2000's and we got Felicity Smoak's New 52 debut with her new and improved techno guru self and apparently she's been hired to kill Oliver.  Oh yeah and an Emeral Archer who's back in Seattle who's kicking ass and taking names.  I know a lot of people are wary of this new creative team, but they're only on this title for a little bit and I'm kind of interested to see where it goes.  Green Arrow's back to basics and I'm all for it.

  1. This is exciting. Felicity's slightly devious background is intriguing, I am dying over Mia potentially being reintroduced to the role of Speedy, and I like that he's kind of settling down and dealing with street level crime with an upgraded twist. Of course, I get people's reservation. I know everyone is wary of the new team but I think it could be a lot of fun. The new team obviously has a very clear direction for Oliver's character that marks an enormous departure from his pre-52 personality. I think one of the reasons I find it so easy a pill to swallow is because I was never in love with preboot Ollie. I always thought the most redeeming qualities of his run were the supporting characters that seriously just kicked ass. In my book, he ties with Batman in terms of having an awesome family: Black Canary, Arsenal/Red Arrow, Connor Hawke/Green Arrow, Mia/Speedy, Lian Harper. I mean!!! If they find a way to bring back Connor Hawke and Lian Harper, I'd be so okay with this new direction. And re-establish the mother-son relationship between Dinah and Roy, although that seems entirely lost in the new 52.

  2. I'm right there with you. I wasn't a fan of Lemire's Outsider story line when he was writing for Green Arrow and when the creative shift happened and I learned Ollie was getting back to basics I had to take this title from Jim and review it myself. If you're looking for a New 52 Connor Hawke, he was briefly in Earth 2 as Red Arrow before getting killed, but there's now a new Red Arrow in Futures End who might be a Connor Hawke that didn't actually die, or it could be Ollie's Earth 2 counterpart. Since this creative team will only be on for a little while I think they're paving the path for a really cool Green Arrow run that will hopefully continue when they are replaced.
