Raiders of The Lost Chrono Gem

*Non Spoilers and Score At The Bottom*

With the Eternity War begun, we've seen He-Man take the fight to Hordak by taking back Mount Zoar and Man-At-Arms possibly sacrificing himself to take out the Orbital Disruptor.  Yeah, we've seen a hell of a win for our Masters but the real mission is to find the Eyes of Grayskull.  These eyes are two gems that have been lost to time and it's up to She-Ra and the Sorceress to find them before Hordak because whoever possesses the gems has the ability to take anyone out in time and space.  As we saw at the end of the first issue, Skeletor has the Chaos Gem but the Chrono Gem is still hidden somewhere in the Sands of Time.  Let's see if our Princess of Power can find it before Hordak and our Masters can really turn the tides on the Evil Horde.  Let's check it out.

Explain It!:

Our issue begins with The Sorceress and She-Ra discussing finding the Chrono Gem and even though the idea initially came off sounding like finding a needle in a haystack due to it being hidden in the Sands of Time, it turns out that the gems were created the same way that She-Ra's gem in her sword was created and that it will lead her to the hidden Chrono Gem.  Yeah, pretty awesome right?  Well for whatever reason She-Ra decides that this bit of info gives her cause to act like a little snot.  When The Sorceress tells She-Ra that her sword will act like a homing device for the other gems, She-Ra replies "Of course it will.  Anything else you'd like to tell me Teela?  At the last possible minute."  What the shit was that?  She's been She-Ra for like two days and they just decided that they should look for the gems........ Yeah, I'm sure that She-Ra is still pissed that Teela went and kind of screwed her over before she became the Princess of Power but this seems a little too important to act bitchy about.  With that aside though, the hunt is on.

The next day in the Sands of Time She-Ra, Stratos and a bunch of Windraiders scour the desert and it's a good thing that She-Ra brought backup because it seems that The Evil Horde is already there.  She-Ra takes out the gunships as Stratos goes up against Vultak who claims to have killed fifty Avians and you know that Stratos isn't going to take that lightly.  Once all the gunships go down and Stratos defeats his foe, the real fight begins as Scorpia and Catra come out to take out the Princess of Power and once they find out that she was once Despara, well they have more reason to want to kill She-Ra.......... I'm guessing the teamwork in the Evil Horde isn't the greatest.  Even with Scorpia's deadly stinger and Catra's ability to turn into a jungle cat, they stood no chance against The Princess of Power.

In the end, She-Ra realizes that the gem in her sword is feeling the Chrono Gem and she plunges her sword of power into the ground and somehow makes a hidden temple rise from the sand.  I guess it's a good bet that the Chrono Gem lies inside but I don't know if our hero will be able to obtain it because as the issue ends we see Hordak all power of Grayskulled up and man does he look intimidating.

That's it for this issue of The Eternity War and even though I liked it because ..........I simply love this world, I was put off almost immediately at She-Ra's snide comments to Teela.  I guess when I think of the character the idea of her being a bitch never crossed my mind, but besides for that I loved getting to see the search for the Chrono Gem and how the series seems to be going back and forth between He-Man and She-Ra's adventures.  It's a good time and if we truly are going back and forth like I think we might, I'm a little pissed because man do I want to see the aftermath of this cliffhanger right away.  Pop Mhan continues to draw these characters wonderfully and my only complaint is that we were in a desert for the majority of this book and we didn't get a chance to see him pull some bad ass backgrounds off............ Yeah, isn't that always the way?  Even though you get something great, you always want more.  See you next month as we continue The Eternity War and see where He-Man tells Hordak to shove it........ or possibly the continuation of She-Ra's story here, I haven't checked the solicits.

Bits and Pieces:

For this chapter of The Eternity War we leave He-Man behind as we follow She-Ra and her search for the Eyes of Grayskull and man do I love the duel stories being told in this series.  Even though She-Ra comes off a bit odd in the beginning, this is another excellent installment to the war and the path of our Master heroes taking back Eternia from Hordak.  Good story, good art, good goddess I want another part.  Check it out.

8/10
