It's so Hard...

Well boys and girls, it all comes down to this.  The end of last weeks Justice League 2.0 set up an epic battle royale and Kyle Higgins doesn't disappoint.  Did you think he would?  Of course not.  For those with bad memories or (for shame) haven't read it, Lord Superman  depowered the Justice League, but right before killing them off, Terry McGinnis showed up in his alt-timeline Kryptonite powered Batman Beyond suit looking all badass.  Let that run on sentence sink in.  Depowered Justice League.  Alt-timeline Kryptonite powered Batman Beyond suit.  Badass.  Shit is about to go down.

Terry and Lord Superman don't waste any time starting up round two of their fight.  While Lord Superman taunts and boasts (he does that alot), Terry just stands there.  Remember...badass.  I'd like to say it was a great battle, but it really wasn't.  Don't get me wrong, I really liked it.  Any opportunity to see Lord Superman get his ass handed to him is okay with me, I just hoped it would have more back-and-forth.  However, the finishing move was great.  Not the move, but who delivered it.  Game over, man.

Instead of showing both timelines adjusting to the end of the War on a global scale, Higgins gets personal.  After all the fighting, Terry goes to see how "T" is doing.  It's a nice touch and shows where Terry's heart is.  After what happens next, it's probably in his throat.  It's a touching scene that's followed by another.  Talk about a one-two punch.

Dick Grayson gets a peek at his Justice Lords Timeline doppleganger...and his wife...and his son.  Instead of blowing his mind, he takes it in stride.  However, his eyes tell a different story of missed opportunities.  At least that's how I saw it.

The book closes with what could be the start of something awesome.  The one thing I was worried about after this awesome crossover ended was we would have to say goodbye to "T".  If the ending is any indication, that won't be the case.

The Justice Lords story has intertwined  between Batman Beyond 2.0 and Justice League 2.0, but this week they hit head on.  I loved it.  Everyone and their Mother knew this issue was going to be action packed.  How could it not be.  The action was good, but it was the personal moments at the end that took it to the next level.  Granted, I would have loved an Animal House ending, but I'll let Kyle Higgins have his more appropriate one.  It's a double vision ending that is  touching in both timelines, but could set up something really awesome in the Justice Lords World.  I can only hope.

Thony Silas nailed it again.  He always does and this issue he does so with character expressions.  Lord Superman's anger, Dick Grayson's shock and Terry's hopeful surprise.  With everything he's done on this book, those three things may be my favorite.  Oh yea, it all looks like a Batman Beyond comic jumped out of the TV and into a book.  I wouldn't feel right if I didn't mention that in every review of this book.  I'm sorry, but it's true.

Bits and Pieces:

Kyle Higgins and Thony Silas end their side of the Justice Lords story in grand fashion.  While it was as action packed as I expected, it was the personal moments during the wrap up that I loved the most.  This, like the whole series, is a must-read for Batman Beyond, Kyle Higgins and comic fans in general.  Highly Recommended.
