Gone, Gone Form of Man...

If you haven't heard the bad news, Tom Taylor is leaving Injustice.  It's a shame since while the magical Year Three story has been a slow burn, it's starting to heat up.  Last month we had the Spectre and Phantom Stranger facing off on Saturn, while Etrigan was causing havoc on Team Superman in the Hall of Justice.  Bad things are about to go down and I want to see how all this ties into Batman and Constantine's plan.  I don't have to wait too long since we find out this week and it's awesome.

Etrigan continues his assault on the Hall of Justice and really seems to be focusing on Sinestro.  When Superman orders Hal to get Sinestro away from harm, Etrigan and Superman come face-to-face...in Space.  It's awesome enough to see these two heavy hitters go at it, but what happens next is one of the best things I've seen in this comic.

Meanwhile on Mimas (Thank you Tom for the Earth, Space and Science lesson), the Spectre and Phantom Stranger continue exchanging threats.  It's a game of "I know who you really are", but in the end, the Spectre is victorious.  Why?  Because when he finds out that Supes is in trouble, he runs a flaming sword through Stranger, killing him and possibly blowing up Saturn.  So much for the Earth Space and Science.

The book ends with Etrigan reverting to his human form, but it's not Jason Blood.  Nope, it's something so much better.  After another brief glimpse of a hesitant Superman, Batman and Constantine's plan kicks into play.  The Emperor sleeps indeed.  I really enjoyed this issue.  We got a crazy, violent death and one of the craziest twists in a while.  I didn't see it coming and am so glad I didn't because it surprised the hell out of me.

There were three artists, but because they were split between different scenes so it wasn't a big deal.  Everything looked good except Superman.  I hated the way his face was drawn.  The highlight was the Spectre/Phantom Stranger showdown

Bits and Pieces:

This issue has a crazy death and one awesome twist.  I wish the story would have moved forward a bit more, but what we got was pretty damn exciting.  The art was pretty good throughout, even if Superman just looked off.  The prophecy said the Emperor would sleep and they were right.

  1. Spoiler comment!

The ending did actually make me think
We always say OH SUPERMAN IS EVIL(and he is) LOOK HOW FAR HES FALLEN....but...look at batman... he disowned his son, in a way caused a war with the lanterns, and now essentially became the host for The Demon...hes fallen as well...
