DC Comics Announces Green Lantern: Edge of Oblivion Coming in January

Ever since Green Lantern: Lost Army's cancellation was announced, we here at Weird Science have been wondering how the story of John Stewart and his fellow "lost" Corps members would end.  Of course, there was always the outside chance of a massive info dump in the final issue (due out in November), but today's announcement means something a whole lot better.

Today, DC Comics announced that come January, Green Lantern fans (including fan #1 and #2 D-Ron and Manship) can get their Corps fill with Green Lantern: Edge of Oblivion written by Tom Taylor with art by GL vet, Ethan Van Sciver.

DC announced that this book would feature a "John Stewart-led GL Corps still seeking a way home, but with the universe around them on the verge of total collapse! Along the way they’ll face dying gods, worlds torn asunder and a desperate group of survivors whose only hope is this band of ring-bearing cosmic heroes."  Sounds mighty familiar to me.

While the above press release already has me pretty excited, the picture DC released has me giddy.  Why?  Simon Baz, that's why.  I have been wondering when we are going to see him again and there he is, looking like a badass.

It's obvious that this story will have a huge impact on the future of the Green Lantern books and I expect a big Event with this book, Green Lantern, Sinestro and even Omega Men (which I think is the real reason it is staying around) to happen sometime around the Summer of 2016.  That's all Weird Science conjecture, but I have been right almost once in my life.

Whether that is the case or not, I am pretty pumped for this book.  I am a huge fan of both Taylor and Van Sciver and expect an action packed story with kick ass art.  That's not too much to ask, is it?

No word yet on if this is a mini series or an ongoing book, but we will let you know as soon as anything more is announced.
