We've got some issues to fill before Dan Jurgens takes over this book and with that, we have a two part story starting here, which is weird because we actually started this story in the previous issue's cliffhanger, which didn't have anything to do with the previous story.  I hope that makes sense.  Anyway, let's jump into this issue and see the mystery unfold about why Jessica Cruz is wanted by the Green Lantern Corps.  Let's check it out.

Right away, this issue is weird.  We have a big mystery on our hands, where Jessica Cruz is wanted by the Green Lantern Corps and it just throws us into the thick of it and works its way backwards and sideways to casually reveal what's going on, but even with that, nothing is really revealed here about the hows and whys and that's a little disappointing because I'm part way done a two part story and I don't know what the hell is going on.

Yeah, there's hints about something that's causing the confusion and about how Jessica is trying to cope with the missing knowledge and come out of this situation intact, but along the line I found myself just getting irritated with the willpower percentages here, which I was hoping we were done with and the idea that we have a new Green Lantern going after Jessica at the beginning of this book, even though there shouldn't be any new Green Lanterns because of the rings malfunctioning when leaving a former bearer.  It's just a few small things like this, but it just left me thinking that the writer doesn't know what's going on in the world of the Green Lanterns, but I have to say that the progression of Jessica's character and the strength she shows here is a fine continuation from where we left off and I hope that we get to see more of this Jessica in the future.

Bits and Pieces:

All in all, the art in this issue is excellent and besides for a few missteps along the way and the fact that I'm a little pissed I don't know what's going on yet, this was  a pretty cool story that I look forward to getting back to next issue

6.8/10

  1. This issue just made me angry. I was just saying "What!" nearly every page is was that confusing. This must be what it is like for a non comic reader to try and get into a story-line mid series.

  2. Like you mention in the review, gotta appreciate how they are progressing Jessica's character and strength. Even if some of the details are a bit messed up.
