Weird Science DC Comics Best Books of the Week 10/20/18

Another week, another bunch of books and a good thing that some were good, right?!?  We have a couple of crossover events going on at DC and things are going pretty smooth overall.  Well, maybe not overall, but it's getting there.  Here are the books we deemed worthy of our Best Books of the Week...

Justice League #10

Writer: Scott Snyder
Artist: Francis Manapul and Tom Napolitano
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: October 17, 2018

What Jim Said: Scott Snyder kicks off his Drowned Earth story and it's fun, feels big and looks great thanks to Francis Manapul.  I am all in and can't wait for the next issue!

Score: 9.3/10

Teen Titans #23

Writer: Adam Glass
Breakdowns: Bernard Chang
Finishes: Scott Hanna
Colors: Hi-Fi
Letters: Rob Leigh
Cover: Nick Derington
Cover Price: $3.99
On Sale Date: October 17, 2018

What Chris Said: Another impressive issue of the Teen Titans... another one, and I might think we've somehow teleported back to 2003.  The Titans haven't been this consistently good in what feels like forever!  If you're still on the fence... or have been scared off since The New-52, trust me when I say: it's safe to come home!

Score: 9.0/10

Justice League Dark #4

Writer: James Tynion IV
Pencils: Alvaro Martínez Bueno
Inks: Raul Fernandez
Colors: Brad Anderson
Letters: Rob Leigh
Cover: Riley Rossmo
Cover Price: $3.99
On Sale Date: October 17, 2018

What Reggie Said: The story continues to raise in this event that should have fans of the DCU's Dark line rejoicing. A new agent of Hecate threatens the Green, and Nanda Parbat is all but lost. Can Wonder Woman fight past her witchmark to take down Hecate? I can't wait to find out!

Score: 8.0/10

Aquaman #41

Writer: Dan Abnett
Pencils: Lan Medina
Inks: Vicente Cifuentes
Colors: Gabe Eltaeb
Letters: Steve Wands
Cover: Riccardo Federici
Cover Price: $3.99
On Sale Date: October 17, 2018

What Reggie Said: This issue is a rollicking, fun read with lots of peril and hopelessness--just the way we like our comics! The story within is a little short on content, but the impressive visuals more than makeup for that: you'll want to linger over these panels again and again.

Score: 7.5/10

Nightwing #51

Written By: Scott Lobdell, Fabian Nicieza
Art By: Travis Moore, Garry Brown, Hi-Fi, Nick Filardi, Deron Bennett
Cover Price: $3.99
Release Date: October 17, 2018

What Eric Said: While I'm sure that this iteration of our hero will turn a lot of people off, I'm pretty excited for what's to come for the first time in a long time and I hope that Scott Lobdell can keep it up as he continues this series.  The art in this issue works really well for the story at hand and there's just so much going on that I can't wait to see how our amnesia-afflicted hero will deal with it......... or if he'll deal with it at all.

Score: 7.5/10
