Our preludes to the wedding of Batman and Catwoman continue here with Jason Todd joining in on the fun...Well, he's being the secret bodyguard of Catwoman while she's out on her bachelorette party....... So as much fun as possible I guess.  It seems though that Anarky is planning to do something nefarious to make his presence known to the Dark Knight and only Jason can stop him.  Let's jump into this issue and see what's what.  Let's check it out.

Right away, people who haven't been following Catwoman's own title....... or history for awhile now will be lost with who Selina has with her as her party guests because where Tim Seeley could have just been generic and used Poison Ivy or Harley or some nonsense like that, he actually used friends from Catwoman's past.  The problem with that though, he doesn't take any page time to talk about them at all.  We get one panel with their names and that's about it before we move on to party down.

Party aside though, this issue focuses on Jason Todd doing his best to keep Selina safe while also being stealth about it and while that prospect seems fun as hell........ this issue comes off a bit boring and worse even, the dialog of Jason Todd doesn't feel natural for the character.  So right there, we have a boring Red Hood that doesn't sound right and throwing in a villain like Anarky just doesn't help things out.  Especially the forced nature to get the character into a story like this.

All in all, nothing really works in this story besides for Selena and her friends and maybe with some decent art that would have been enough for me to like it, but I really disliked the art in this issue as well so at the end of the day this prelude installment feels like an issue that you can just skip outright because it really brings nothing to the story at all and isn't that fun.

Bits and Pieces:

While I'm normally a fan of anything Red Hood, this installment to the wedding preludes just comes off boring and doesn't really capture the characters in the book as well as it could have.  On top of that, I'm not a fan of the art in this issue and when you put all of that together...Well, you get a big disappointment.  Not a great issue overall and these preludes have pretty much worn out their welcome.

  1. This issue felt like an annual. But in comparison to the issue of Batman this week it's way more enjoyable. I like how Jason solved the issue of people about to revolt. I don't think Batman himself could have end the situation that way. Also maid me laugh that Jason charged Bruce for his services, unlike the rest of the bat family how would have taken Bruce money to do what ever they want. Jason is a tit for tat kind of guy, and he's not afraid to work for his money. Serviceable issue.

  2. I'm with Anthony on this one.
I enjoyed it, and I actually like Javi Fernandez's art. It always adds a little manga flavor and kinetic action. I just wish Seely was this tight with his story telling when he was on Nightwing.
    Bygones.
