(Just Like) Starting Over

If you haven't already done it, go and read the just finished Justice Lords crossover that ran through this book and Justice League Beyond 2.0. It was one of the best events of the year and I mean in all comics.  If you insist on being crazy and just want to jump into BB 2.0 this week, you are in luck.

Higgins and Siegel make things feel fresh right off the bat by going back in time.  Yes, the bulk of the issue takes place a year ago and I love it.  Bruce is still involved and Terry is applying to Neo-Gotham University.  It's almost like a soft reboot to the series and a great jumping on point for new readers.

We also get to see some old "friends" right off the bat and they are causing trouble.  That's when Terry shows up with a partner.  Yes, Terry isn't alone and who is with him will cause a geekasm to everyone in the know.  After things go south, Bruce isn't so impressed.  He warns Terry about the ills of having a partner and he should know.  This arc is all about Terry learning the truth about his Father and if things are what they seem, he won't have to look far.

The issue ends with a bit of Barbara Gordon, some scary smoke and another great guest star that may or may not be featured on the cover.  I don't like spoiling things.  I'll tell you this, I can't wait until next week.  Yep, Batman Beyond 2.0 is now on a weekly schedule since the cancellation of Justice League Beyond 2.0.

Phil Hester jumps in to do the bulk of the art and while I loved Thony Silas (he does one page here), Hester is more than capable here. This book has featured great art from the start and this issue is no exception.

Bits and Pieces:

Batman Beyond 2.0 #25 feels more like a reboot than just the start of a new arc.  Kyle Higgins is joined by Alec Siegel in beginning the story of Terry learning the truth about his Father.  This is a great jumping on point for new readers and anyone who loves Batman Beyond will find so much to love already. I know the story is just beginning, but it already feels big and important.  Don't miss out.

  1. So does the bulk of this issue take place a few weeks after Joker Night from the 10,000 Clowns arc or a few months? It is kind of vague. Other than that this was a nice issue. I hope Higgins and Siegel will touch on a few things that Adam Beechen left like Max Gibson being the head of Undercloud/Oracle Beyond, Bruce putting the Metal Men in an orbiting satellite, Batgirl Beyond, and the status of Dick Grayson's and Catwoman Beyond's relationship.

    1. My guess is it's a couple weeks since Bruce is surprised by it. I hope that all those are touched on, especially Batgirl Beyond. Kyle Higgins is such a fan Batman Beyond and it really shows. I hate to sound corny, but this just seems like a love letter to every Batman Beyond fan.
